What is a Video Lottery Terminal (VLT)?

A VLT is a gaming machine that allows players to bet on the outcome of a video game. Specifically to WA, there is only one type of VLT, and that is the video form of break-open (scratch and match) bingo tickets. These stand-alone video consoles allow players to insert coins and play up to 4 virtual bingo tickets on a screen at a time. The game-play involves matching up certain images to win cash prizes, and is a game of chance.

The leading VLT in WA

CABARET GAMING has recently developed its 3rd generation VLT, called Treasure Island. The game has currently been in operation for 6 months. Treasure Island boasts a 17” flat LCD screen, with high resolution animations and sounds to entice players. The game runs off a standard memory card (SD card, which is a common type of memory storage for digital cameras) meaning that upgrades and maintenance can be as simple as swapping out the card. It operates from a standard power-point plug, and will run autonomously. The only operational requirement is to replace the paper rolls in the printer for winning tickets (which is as simple as loading a standard PC printer).
